The Foreigner

AUTHOR(S):

Larry Shue

TYPE:

A comedy in two acts

SYNOPSIS:

When "Froggy" LeSeur, a British demolition expert, comes to Georgia, he brings along his old friend, painfully shy, diffident Charlie Baker, also British.  Charlie dreads having to talk to anyone at Betty Meeks' Fishing Lodge Resort, where he's staying, so "Froggy" tells the folks that Charlie's a foreigner from an exotic country and that he doesn't understand or speak a word of English.  "Froggy" goes off to the nearby army base, leaving Charlie to cope as well as he can when some characters inadvertently reveal intimate details of their lives and other characters reveal nefarious intentions.  When a dangerously sinister plan develops, Charlie decides to thwart the bad guys and finds inner resources hitherto unknown to himself.
