A musical adaptation of the 1843 Hans Christian Andersen story, “The Ugly Duckling”, deals with the rejection faced by someone who is the wrong shape and color in comparison to his community. The musical opened in England in 1993 and moved to London’s West End in 1999, winning the 2000 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical. It is a heartwarming celebration of what makes us special.
